Slayhem Mode features a new storyline based on the original game.

ABOUT

 A tropical school trip
 to an island paradise!

Blue skies, white clouds,
sparkling waters
and
sweeping sandy beaches.
The students of Hope's Peak Academy
are at
Jabberwock Island—
a famous southern resort
destination
—for their school trip.

The goal of the trip is to bond with one another
and gather "Fragments of Hope"....

However, the peaceful school trip
comes to an abrupt
end with a declaration
from headmaster Monokuma:
Let the

killing school trip

begin! The only way to leave the island is
to kill
one of your classmates and
survive the Class Trial.
If the culprit fails to escape detection,
they face "punishment."

Thus begins the communal life
of students
suddenly plunged into despair.

CHARACTER

hinata

hinata

The protagonist of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. Having lost his memories from before being brought to the island, he cannot recall his Ultimate Talent. Even amidst the surreal situation of a killing game, he takes proactive steps to identify the culprit in order to survive.

komaeda

komaeda

Chosen by lottery from the ordinary high school students nationwide, possessing the title of Ultimate Lucky Student. Even in desperate situations, he believes in his friends and the power of hope. Although he seems somewhat unreliable at times, he looks out for Hajime and offers him advice. He maintains a pleasant demeanor even when saying harsh things, yet he appears to harbor no ill intent.

tanaka

tanaka

The Ultimate Animal Breeder—someone capable of taming any animal and even successfully breeding endangered species. His talent is so extraordinary that rumors even circulate claiming he can converse with animals. Together with the hamsters hiding in his scarf, known as the "Four Dark Devas of Destruction", he earnestly believes it is his destiny to eventually rule the entire world.

souda

souda

An Ultimate Mechanic with an extraordinary knack for machinery. Having grown up surrounded by scrap parts and tools, he possesses the talent to repair anything from toys to high-end appliances. While optimistic enough to readily accept the sudden school trip, he also has a timid side that causes him to panic over even minor mishaps.

togami

togami

The scion of the Togami family, a massive conglomerate. Having been thoroughly schooled in the art of leadership since childhood, he carries himself with an air of majestic authority that makes him somewhat unapproachable to the average person. Already involved in the management of multiple companies and having amassed a vast personal fortune, he is truly worthy of the title Ultimate Affluent Progeny.

hanamura

hanamura

An Ultimate Cook who boasts of creating the world's most delicious cuisine. He acts like a sophisticated city dweller and refers to himself as the Ultimate Chef. He harbors an extraordinary passion not only for food but also for females, constantly scheming to get closer to his classmates. Even in a dire situation, he seems to delight in living alongside them...

nidai

nidai

An Ultimate Team Manager who has been active in various sports clubs while moving to various schools. His accomplishments are countless, including leading a baseball club that was on the verge of disbanding to victory in the national tournament. Rumor has it that even professional athletes come to him for training guidance. It's not just his body; his voice is big and loud as well.

kuzuryu

kuzuryu

Despite being a high school student, he is an Ultimate Yakuza viewed as the heir to the Kuzuryu Clan, the country's largest designated organized crime syndicate. He dislikes running with a crowd or getting too chummy with others, preferring to act alone. His words and actions are consistently aggressive, and he shows no reluctance to participate in a killing game. If you don't want to make him angry, don't mention his baby face.

owari

owari

A super-athlete known as the Ultimate Gymnast. She is a problem child who disregards fundamentals in favor of constantly unleashing original moves and will immediately withdraw from competition if she isn't in the mood. Yet, her ability is undeniable enough to earn her the title of "Ultimate." Her mind is usually occupied almost entirely by thoughts of eating and fighting.

nanami

nanami

An Ultimate Gamer who excels at games across all genres. Because she has a habit of keeping her eyes glued to the game and mentally organizing her thoughts before speaking, the flow of conversation tends to be sluggish. She also marches to the beat of her own drum; even amidst a life-or-death killing game, she is prone to falling asleep the moment she lets her guard down.

sonia

sonia

A member of the royal family of a small European nation called Novoselic. She arrived at Hope's Peak Academy as an exchange student and holds the title of Ultimate Princess. Due to her status, she apparently has no friends of equal standing back home, so she finds the experience of interacting with students her own age to be a refreshing novelty. Having learned about Japanese culture primarily through older television programs, her knowledge is somewhat skewed, leading her to occasionally use peculiar phrasing.

saionji

saionji

An Ultimate Traditional Dancer and a rising star in the field, she actively performs both in Japan and abroad. Her shows draw a surprising amount of a younger audience, and the vast majority of them are men. However, few seem to notice the cruel side hidden beneath her cute appearance...

koizumi

koizumi

An Ultimate Photographer who has already won numerous awards as a high school student. She specializes particularly in portrait photography. She is a dependable person who cares deeply for her friends and looks out for others; however, she is exceptionally strict with men, often lecturing boys she deems unreliable, revealing a somewhat old-fashioned set of values.

tsumiki

tsumiki

Known as the Ultimate Nurse, she is a girl possessing medical knowledge sufficient not only to treat injuries but also to perform autopsies when necessary. She lacks self-confidence and frequently makes self-deprecating remarks. She struggles with communicating with others; even when she prepares a multitude of topics in advance, nervousness causes her to forget them all.

mioda

mioda

An Ultimate Musician who used to be the guitarist for an immensely popular all-female high school band. Their song "After School Poyoyon Hour" became a platinum hit, however, she left the band due to creative differences and is currently pursuing a solo career. She is a quirky individual who is constantly high-energy and whose topics of conversation shift rapidly.

pekoyama

pekoyama

Despite her cute name, she is a girl with a sharp gaze and a dignified air. A kendo master whom few adult men could hope to defeat, she is known as the Ultimate Swordswoman. She is quiet and composed by nature. While she never recklessly brandishes the bamboo sword she always carries, anyone harboring ill intentions would likely not escape unscathed.

higashi

higashi

A student with an unknown background who appears in the Slayhem Mode.

monokuma

monokuma

A living, bear-shaped stuffed animal that claims to be the headmaster of Hope's Peak Academy. He holds the students captive on Jabberwock Island, forcing them to engage in a killing game in exchange for their escape. By presenting various information and motives, he unsettles the students and steers them toward a gruesome battle to the death. Just what is Monokuma's true objective...?

monomi

monomi

A rabbit-like living stuffed animal that claims to be a teacher. Unlike Monokuma, she has a gentle, emotional personality. She fights a solitary battle for the students' sake while enduring relentless bullying from Monokuma, yet fails to gain the trust of the students, who have become consumed by suspicion and paranoia. According to Monokuma, she is his younger sister...but is that really the case?
